10 Days The Great Migration Safari

After your breakfast at the hotel, we depart for the Amboseli National park. Drive through the industrial extended part of Nairobi to the vast plains of Maasai country. Our journey ends at the beautiful slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. Arrive at the camp in time for Lunch. This is the highest free standing mountain in Africa. Its snow peaks provide water to the springs and shallow pans of Amboseli National park. .Amboseli is home to some of the largest elephant herds in Kenya. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of the largest mammal on earth- elephants, lions, cheetah, buffaloes and more. The acacia woodlands and elephant grasslands of the park shelter an abundance of game and birdlife. The Park covers 382 km2, and forms part of the much larger 2890 Km2 Amboseli ecosystem. Enjoy spectacular sunsets as your explore the home to legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro.

We shall leave Amboseli after our breakfast and head out towards one of the largest Calderas in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater.  We shall be crossing over in to Tanzania via Namanga border. After Visa formalities we head on and proceed to Arusha. Here you will enjoy hot lunch at the Arusha coffee lodge. After lunch we shall proceed to Ngorongoro and check in to your lodge. The views by the rim are quite scenic. Enjoy your evening at the lodge.

After an early breakfast we shall proceed for a game drive at the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area shelters some 25,000 large mammals: dominated by bull elephants, rhinos and lions. The crater is A World Heritage Site, it is also one of the largest volcanic craters in the world (almost 20 kilometers wide, 610-760 meters deep and covering a total area of 264 square kilometers). An utterly unique biosphere, the Crater harbors grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife, all enclosed within its towering walls.  We shall then drive up the rim back to the lodge in the late afternoon. Depending, we can organize for picnic lunch boxes or return to lodge for late hot lunch.

You will be transferred to the Serengeti. Enjoy a game drive as you drive to the camp. The Serengeti, whose Maasai name ‘Siringet’ translates as ‘the endless plains’, offers unparalleled ornithological opportunities and an unrivalled natural arena wherein the glory and harmony of nature can be appreciated as nowhere else on earth. Covering 14,763 sq. km of endlessly rolling savannah plains, it is Tanzania’s first-established, largest and most famous park wherein tens of thousands of hoofed animals roam in a constant and unremitting search for the fresh grasslands upon which their survival depends. The million-plus wildebeest are the predominant herbivore and also the main prey of a huge cast of large carnivores, principally lion and hyena.

Big cats including lion, cheetah and leopard roam these plains. Serengeti is famed for the big lion families which have been collared to monitor movement.  Additionally to its wealth of wild cats, you will also see zebra, giraffe, Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle, eland, impala, klipspringer, and warthog.

Unfortunately, this is your last day in Tanzania but not he last on the African plains, keep smiling. You will catch a flight which will eventually land you on Maasai Mara. It’s time to explore the largest wildlife arena in Kenya. Explore this safari country with morning and evening game drives. Apart from the big five, enjoy spectacular sundowners and cocktails in the wild plains of the Mara. Enjoy a cultural experience with the Maasai Morans and learn more of their traditional practices.
