The Chobe is based in the northern area of Botswana. It extends to the Chobe River, which originates from Angola. There is an enormously large number of habitats occupying the woodlands, floodplains, and baobab trees. The Serondela comprise dense forests and lush floodplains. Also, you can easily spot the golden puku antelope. Chobe riverfront is around 100km from Victoria Falls.
Chobe National Park is the first national park in Botswana. The park hosts the largest herds of elephants in the world. You can also watch buffalos, lions, zebras, giraffes, and leopards on your Botswana safaris. It is a sanctuary area for animals after the government banned teak wood and hunting activities. In 1940 the place suffered an experienced tsetse fly invasion. Among the big 5 beasts, it is only rhino that is amiss.
The year 1967 is when the former Chobe game reserve was proclaimed a National Park. It rests in an area of 11,700 km². The park was extended by shifting the village that formerly occupied the village, creating more space for the animals. Additionally, the industries occupying the Serondela were also relocated from the park. The government exempted any human activity in 1975 from taking place. The park consists of four separate areas. Each of them manifesting distinctive geographical landscapes these include; the Serondella, Savuti channel, Nogatsaa, and the Linyanti to capture
The Savuti channel drained entirely in 1888. It streamed back to life 70 years later (1957). Nonetheless, the channel is distinctively oddly beautiful, and sporadic. Luckily, the Linyanti and Savute lack mobile or internet coverage. Instead of seeing this as a drawback, pretend it’s the 1950s and bond with your family. The National Park provides a dazzling view for wildlife photography. You can book accommodation at fancy riverside lodges like the Zambezi Queen, Chobeunder canvas, Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, and the Chobe Game Lodge. May to October is the best time to go for the Chobe tour.
Chobe national park lodges possess panoramic sight for herds of elephants right from your room. The riverfront features unique birdlife residing along the river. At Chobe you there is a high chance of capturing the African eagles. Savuti is the best place on a Botswana safari to experience a memorable rip-roaring predictor while in play. Multiple frolicking birds will overwhelm you once they pop up on your binoculars. Chobe safaris are also ideal for kids.
