In 1975, Matusadona National Park was established. It occupies an area of 1,400 km2 and is best for walking safari. The destination is accessible across the year. Zimbabwe luxury safari at this park offers tremendous traditional bush camps and lodges. The shoreline also provides several water activities like pontoon riding. The dominant vegetation is julbernardia globiflora, woodland, mountain acacia, mapone shrubs, and Branchystegia glaucescens. The popular fauna at the park are; cheetah, buffalo, endangered black rhinoceros, crocodile, and hippopotamus. The Matusadona National Park tour is ideal for bird watching. There are over 240 breeds of birds. You can easily spot the fish eagle at the waterside, goliath herons, grey herons, saddlebill storks, and white herons. Other fowl include; plovers, osprey, waders, woolly-necked storks, geese, white-winged plovers, open billed storks, and red-winged pratincole. You can watch the bee-eater colonies at the small rivers that flow across the valley and at the sandstone bank. The best way of accessing the park is via a canoe from Kariba. It is also home to the big five creatures.
The best time to travel at Matusadona National Park
The dry season, which starts from July to October, is the best time to visit the Matusadona NP. You will experience superb wildlife viewing, and you can admire the rhinoceros while on a walking safari. There are several luxury lodges and even houseboats. The Sanyati River at this park has a spectacular gorge that is panoramic during the rainy season.
