If a destination oozes a romantic ambiance while providing luxury simultaneously, you’d be talking about Tongabezi in Zambia. The place started in the 1990s and has grown from using only tents and buckets to becoming an award-winning destination worldwide. Located at the banks of the Zambezi River and 12 km upstream of Victoria Falls, the strategic position provides a home to an adventure-filled experience.
The team at the Tongabezi-eco-lodge has mastered the art of customer care. At your arrival, you’ll be received by happy faces that will usher you into rooms decorated with embellishments from around the African continent. The rooms are clean, spacious, and made to allow comfort and adventure.
Do you prefer having a room that gives you an outside feel or one hundred percent enclosed? Then this is the place to be. Visitors can either opt for the Seven Houses or Cottages. The houses include the nut house, honeymoon house, the dog house, and the garden house. They are all made differently, each having a unique view and feel. For instance, the honeymoon house offers room for candle night dinner on a balcony overlooking the river. On the other hand, the cottages pave the way for guests that prefer enclosed spaces and experience the roaring night from an enclosed location.
When it comes to activities, you can make them as random as you deem fit. There is no specific itinerary. The activities include:
Fishing lovers can go to the Zambezi River and try fly or pole fishing. More than 75 fish species are to be explored, with the tiger fish being the most popular species. It has teeth, and it’s very fierce.
There are also boat cruising activities that allow you a close look at the Zambezi River and its surroundings. This also creates a good chance for amazing photos. Here you can see animals such as elephants, hippos, and bird species.
Experience the raging waters of Victoria Falls. You can marvel at this over an outside setting for breakfast or for beautiful sundowner moments.
Also, you can opt for a morning or evening walk around the Tongabezi eco-lodge and its surroundings. The presence of tour guides leads you to spots such as the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, the Maramba and Mukuni village markets, the Zambezi River or the Livingstone Museum. Also, the special sampan dinner is experienced in the middle of the bush, decorated with your favourite wine and nature.
In addition, there are non-inclusive activities such as microlight flights, swimming at the Devils & Angels pool and helicopter flights.
- Pool: This allows you to cool off whenever you feel hot.
- Gym: Fitness enthusiasts can still enjoy their workouts while on vacation in the well-equipped gym with modern equipment.
- Sand bar exists for special delicacies and exceptional drinks.
The Tongabezi offers amazing scenery for weddings, anniversaries, honeymoons and unforgettable memories.
