Botswana Travel Advice

Botswana is a famous African safari destination and before visiting Botswana, you need to know about the travel advice given below for a safe and memorable trip.

Currency- Some banks of Botswana accept Travellers’ cheques. ATMs are available in major towns and larger villages but most accept visas only.

 Maestro cards are generally not accepted. Many shops in towns are accepted credit cards. Scottish or Northern Irish Bank notes are not accepted by Botswana Govt.

Health- You need to have appropriate health insurance for urgent medical evacuation or local treatment.

Entry requirements-

The entry rules set out by the Botswana government should follow by all travelers as per their COVID-19 status.

You need the coronavirus vaccination certificate during travel and also on arrival at the airport.

You should have a valid passport for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Botswana.

British countries do not need a visa to visit Botswana for stays of up to 90 days. But for others, you need a visa to enter Botswana.

Local laws and customs- Drug taking and smuggling are serious crimes. One can be punished severely.

Taking photographs or making videos near military and government installations is prohibited. Always ask their permission before doing it.

As an outsider, you should carry some identity proof with you at all times. A passport photo should be carried.

It’s illegal to buy, sell, kill or capture any protected wild animal in Botswana.
